 Chemical Peel A chemical peel is a non-invasive procedure used in the Carey MediSPA. Chemical peels are designed to promote cell growth and produce smoother, clearer skin. As we age, the accumulated effects of sun, pollutants, acne and scarring can damage the skin causing it to appear uneven and blemished. We offer both the Obagi System and Physician's Choice® products to help reduce the depth of surface lines, smooth out rough skin texture, fade brown spots and assist in clearing acne/blemished skin. Our treatments help to loosen dead cells from the skin's surface. This allows healthier skin cells to come through, giving a smoother texture to your skin. These treatments can be done alone or in conjunction with Vibradermabrasion or microdermabrasion. There is no downtime whatsoever with our peels. You can even receive a peel on your lunch hour and return to work. Deeper peels are performed for patients with deeper wrinkles or discolorations. Mini laser peels are offered for lighter problems. TCA Peel TCA (Trichloroacetic acid) is most commonly used for fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes and pigment problems. It can be used on the neck or other body areas and treatments usually take only 10-15 minutes. Often more than one TCA peel may be needed to achieve the results you want. TCA is a deeper peel than most of the superficial peels and is performed by Dr. Carey. Because it is a deeper treatment, your "downtime" will be up to one week. During this time of peeling and healing, you will need to keep your facial skin moist with an antibacterial ointment. Your new skin will be apparent in about 7-10 days and you should be healed sufficiently to return to work and your normal activities. Sun exposure should be avoided and adequate sun-block protection is necessary to prevent blotchy irregular skin coloring. |
