Laser Treatments For Men
Dr. Carey uses the newest generation of laser technology to tighten and smooth the skin, removing wrinkles, acne, scars, spider veins and unwanted hair. Laser resurfacing is one of the most effective treatments used today. Dr. Carey offers a number of laser technologies to meet the specific needs of each patient and each provide patients fast healing times and minimal pain.
These lasers include the GentleLase, the Gentle YAG, and the Erbium laser.
Gentle LASE Laser
Hair Removal
Dr. Carey is able to quickly, effectively and gently remove unwanted facial or body hair for men and women. Imagine having smooth, hair free skin without shaving, waxing, plucking or bleaching your unwanted hair. The results are outstanding. Dr. Carey treats areas like the face, underarms, the bikini line, back, chest or legs in less than 15 minutes, and there are no creams or gels, no pre-treatment waxing, and no needles. In other words, treatments are comfortable and quick, and you can return to work or other activities immediately.
The Gentle Lase laser is available in our Lewes Office and is most effective on lighter skin types.
Gentle YAG Laser
Facial Veins
The Gentle YAG laser, available in our Dover office, is the treatment of choice for improvement in red spider veins, and other discolorations in the face as well as for wrinkle reduction. It can be used on all skin types including Afro-American and Asian. In fact, this is the only laser in the area that can successfully treat African Americans.
Facial Skin Tightening
Our newest application using the Gentle YAG laser is skin tightening. The Gentle YAG tightens the skin comfortably and there is no downtime since there is no breaking of the skin. Makeup can be applied immediately following the treatment.
Active Acne
The Gentle YAG laser treatments has proven to be an especially effective treatment for active acne.
The Gentle YAG laser creates a beam of high intensity light that penetrates deeply into the skin where it causes a deep heating of tissues and contraction of the skin. The laser beam is preceded by a short burst of cooling cryogen spray which protects the outer skin and makes the treatment comfortable. We recommend five treatments, one month apart to tighten the skin on your face. While this doesn't take the place of a facelift, it is a new use of the YAG laser that we are working with on a limited basis.
Erbium Laser
Acne Treatment and Scar Removal
The concerns people have with acne are pitted skin, which is treated with the Erbium laser; and acne outbreaks which are treated with the Gentle YAG.
The Erbium laser is used primarily for pitted skin and acne scar removal. The Erbium laser is incredibly adjustable and provides a safer, more accurate and less painful method of scar removal, restoring softer, smoother facial skin. The precise control allows for both very light resurfacing as well as deep resurfacing. The use of topical anesthesia is all that is necessary.
Most treatments will heal sufficiently within 5-7 days and with quality mineral based cosmetics, you can return to work relatively quickly. However, very light redness may last up to six weeks.
For active acne, the YAG laser is used. This helps control the acne breakouts in patients, especially adults, who have active acne and want to try to control it.
